Black beans burgers
For today, I prepared another vegan burger, which represents a great alternative for a classic meat burger. This time I used black beans, then I added oats and whole wheat flour, thanks to which it’s very compact. You can serve it with vegetables as desired.
Preparation time: 20 minutes
Servings: 4 burgers
Ingredients:
2 cups cooked black beans, strained well
¼ cup oats
¼ cup whole wheat flour
¾ tsp cumin
½ tsp red chili pepper, finely chopped
½ ground garlic
½ tsp salt
¼ salsa sauce (Look for the recipe below.)
1 tbsp olive oil
a few pinches of cornflour (optional)
Decoration (quantity as desired):
lettuce
zucchini
kohlrabi
radishes
carrots
parsley leaves
Instructions:
1. Mash cooked black beans in a food processor.
2. Add oats, whole wheat flour, cumin, red chili pepper, garlic, salt, and salsa sauce, then mix again until combined. If the mixture is too wet, add more whole wheat flour.
3. Shape the burgers from the resulting mixture in the desired size with your hands. Sprinkle cornflour on top of every burger.
4. Heat 1 tbsp of olive oil in a pan at moderate temperature. Fry the burgers for 5 minutes on each side, until cornflour gets crispy.
5. Serve with lettuce, parsley leaves, pieces of kohlrabi, zucchini, carrots, and radishes.
6. Serve and enjoy.
Salsa sauce ingredients:
3 cup pelati (canned tomato in cubes or whole)
2 garlic cloves, mashed
1 tsp smoked dry pepper
1 handful fresh chives, finely chopped
1 red onion, finely chopped
½ tsp salt
½ tsp acacia honey
1 lime juice
black pepper to taste
Salsa sauce instructions:
1. Put all ingredients in a blender and blend until you get the desired consistency.
