Sweet-sour tofu cheese
Tofu cheese can be consumed in countless ways, but I believe you still haven’t tried this sweet-sour combination. Mix apple vinegar, Tabasco sauce, tomato juice, agave syrup, Tamari soya sauce, and freshly blended pineapple and you will get a fantastic dressing to pour over the tofu, which you roasted previously.
Ingredients:
For tofu marinade:
1 pack tofu cheese, approx. 200 g
2+1 tbsp olive oil
1 garlic clove, minced
⅙ tsp ground white pepper (optional)
For sweet-sour sauce:
1 cup fresh pineapple, blended
4 tbsp apple cider vinegar
⅔ tbsp Tabasco sauce
2 tbsp tomato juice
1 tbsp agave syrup
1 tbsp Tamari soya sauce
1 tsp kuzu powder or any other natural thickener
½ liter water
Instructions:
Drain the tofu, then dice it. Pour the olive oil over tofu cheese in a bowl, mix well, then put in a casserole dish that was previously layered with baking paper. Roast the tofu for about 20 minutes at 200°C degrees, until golden. Meanwhile, prepare the sweet-sour sauce. In a big frying pan heat 1 tbsp olive oil on medium heat. Then add garlic and pepper, stir and fry it for 30 seconds. Add pineapple juice and stir. Let it boil, then continue cooking on lower heat. Add the rest of the ingredients and stir to combine all. Mix kuzu with 0,5 dl cold water, then pour this mix in the pan and stir. Continue cooking until the sauce thickens, about one minute. When tofu is done, take it out of the oven then add it to the pan with sauce. Serve with fresh salad and other dishes of your choice.
